We’re Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity – and we’re dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. We believe that if we all act now, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live – and live well.

The role

The Communications & Engagement Directorate aims to engage with the public and those affected to keep breast cancer at the forefront of people’s minds and on the agenda, raise awareness of Breast Cancer Now, influence policy practice and change behavior. The Health Advocacy Team (part of Policy and Campaigns) leads on patient and healthcare professional involvement, to inform our policy and service improvement work.

You will play a key role in the delivery of our Service Pledge programme, focussing on using patient views to shape the future of treatment and care for people affected by breast cancer. You will support the development and delivery of the Directorate’s insight strategy, ensuring that the work of the Directorate reflects the views of patients, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers and those at risk of breast cancer. This role will have particular emphasis on patient engagement and involvement.

This is an exciting time to join the team, as we are piloting new ways to deliver our work to maximise the impact we have on patient experience and breast cancer services across the UK.

About you

You will have experience of developing and managing strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including interacting sensitively with people who are living with or have lived through distressing personal experiences. You will have strong project management skills and excellent communication skills, as well as having experience working in patient involvement and/or service improvement in the NHS or charity sector.
