Responsible to: Operations Director
MapAction (mapaction.org) is a leading humanitarian mapping charity. It deploys skilled volunteers to international humanitarian emergencies to map priority needs. This mapped information helps responders target their response effectively, contributing to saving lives and minimising suffering.
MapAction has built a strong reputation in the humanitarian sector and is a technical partner of the United Nations. The charity has attracted funding from UK Government (DFID), the Government of the Netherlands, the EU and other major donors. Prince Harry has been the charity’s patron since 2007. Building the team capability is an essential part of
MapAction’s capacity to provide response support to organisations, including emergency missions 24/7, 365 days a year.
MapAction also offers training and skills transfer support to our operational partners as a core service. A key focus of activities in this department at present is making materials available to team members who may be remote, and cataloging and packaging materials for ease of access.
A new strategy is currently being formed to deliver services from 2019.
High quality maps and information management can make the difference between life and death in humanitarian disaster response and MapAction is a recognised leader in the field. Can you help us to promote and coordinate the sharing of MapAction's knowledge and skills? This would be both to our volunteers to ensure they are as effective as possible on emergency missions, and also to other partner emergency organisations, from the UN down to local/national providers and NGOs.
Are you as comfortable working in a tent or village hall as in a modern office? Do you want to make a positive difference? Then this could be the perfect job for you. You will be working with a team of truly amazing volunteers, whose technical ability and willingness will awe and inspire you daily. And the staff aren’t bad either. The work will be varied and you will immediately understand that it really matters. If this sounds like you, please read on and get in touch."
