Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma – the second most common form of blood cancer. It originates in the bone marrow and currently affects around 17,500 people in the UK. Whilst treatable, myeloma is not yet curable.
Our ultimate goal is to find a cure. We are dedicated to ensuring that patients get access to the right treatment at the right time, and to improving standards of treatment and care through research, education and awareness raising. We also provide a range of information and support services to patients, family and friends to help deal with a diagnosis of myeloma.
About the role
We are now seeking a Finance Manager to undertake the day to day management of our financial operations, providing and interpreting up to date financial information for the Executive Leadership Team and providing an accounting service to all departments across Myeloma UK, communicating with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
The role will include preparing and monitoring budgets and cash flows, preparing annual accounts and liaising with auditors, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and timely reporting to all relevant external authorities including HMRC, OSCR, Companies House, etc. You will have responsibility for the production of management accounts, reporting on variances and liaising with relevant managers and budget holders.
You will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, assisting with preparation and delivery of Myeloma UK’s strategic and operational plans and working on a range of projects as required.
In addition you will be responsible for the management and development of the Finance Team.
The ideal candidate will have strong accountancy skills and a recognised accountancy qualification (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
You will have a sound knowledge of financial reporting standards and extensive experience in reporting and interpreting financial information to meet specific deadlines as well as detailed knowledge and experience of management accounting and statutory accounts preparation.
Experience of implementing new finance systems and processes and supporting organisational change would be an advantage in this role.
You will have a high level of computer skills, strong organisation, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships and communicate with people at all levels in the organisation.
