Chair of Trustees
The Peel, founded by the social activist and politician George Masterman Gillet, has supported the residents of Clerkenwell, London since 1898, providing a range of community projects in that time. Their vision is for a “connected community where everyone benefits from living here”.
Today, The Peel is in an exciting moment in its history. The sale of a significant asset in 2016 and the appointment of a new CEO in 2017 bring energy, ambition, resource and focus to the future of the charity and what it could mean for the area and its diverse communities.
The Peel is now able to take on new challenges, develop new projects and explore the boundaries of what a connected community might be able to achieve together,
The Trust is seeking a new Chair, who will galvanise the board to provide leadership for the future shape of The Peel. The successful candidate will have experience of leadership and of chairing and supporting organisations through change, and growth.
The new Chair may have a background in wider civil society organisations or local government and may have some exposure to regeneration, innovation, place-making and partnership development.
