Since the BHF was established in 1961 the annual number of cardiovascular disease (CVD) deaths in the UK has fallen by half. Join us to continue fundraising for our life-saving research.

Almost half of our income comes from people leaving a gift to us in their Will. Charitable legacies are therefore vital to enable us to continue our life-saving research programme to fight cardiovascular disease.

About the role

Our Legacies team is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join as a new Legacy Officer and run a demanding caseload of legacies and help in the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy.

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration of legacies in accordance with guidelines laid down by the Head of Legacies Management, answering enquiries from solicitors and individuals in connection with potential bequests and assist in all matters relating to the department's work.

You will also have the opportunity to build the BHF's reputation as a good recipient of legacies and increase the BHF's income from bequests.

About you

With excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly, you'll preferably have working knowledge of First Class 4 and a Legal qualification or ILM Certificate of competence in Legacy Administration.

You must have excellent IT skills, particularly MS Office and legacy case management software and have a high level of empathy able to develop strong relationships with colleagues and contacts.
