Media and Communications Manager – News and Emergencies

£33,046 - £39,340 per annum

This is a rare opportunity to work on some of the most important issues of our generation.

Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

We are recruiting for a talented Media and Communications Manager to join Unicef UK.  This is a fast-paced role where you will work on our response to emerging news stories, how we communicate our advocacy priorities, and our response to breaking and ongoing disasters and emergencies, such as the global refugee crisis, the Syria crisis, and many more emergencies that affect children. You will manage relationships with news editors across all UK media and work with others across Unicef UK to deliver effective, ambitious and well messaged multi-media coverage of our news and emergency work.

To succeed in this role, you will have a strong track record of managing media in a breaking emergency situation, ideally with experience of communications work overseas in an emergency. We are looking for excellent communication skills along with the ability to develop highly productive working relationships with journalists, key influencers and supporters. You will have experience of delivering high profile, innovative and ambitious multi-media strategies, and be able to present complex ideas in a compelling way.

Act now and visit www.unicef.org.uk/jobs to apply online.

Closing date: 5pm, Friday 27 April 2018

Interview date: Wednesday 9 May 2018

This role is currently based in Farringdon.  From Summer 2018, Unicef UK will relocate to Stratford (zone 2).  Our new offices will be close to the new Crossrail station and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Stratford is also served by the Jubilee and Central Lines, DLR, London Overground, TFL Rail and National Rail services.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of people, respecting and drawing on different perspectives, skills, experience and knowledge.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a criminal records check. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the role and the circumstances of your offences.

We only accept online applications as this saves us money, making more funds available for us to help ensure children’s rights. CVs will not be accepted.

If you require support in completing the online form or an application form in an alternative format, please contact Supporter Care on 0300 330 5580 during office hours.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that we only provide feedback to shortlisted candidates.
