Hospiscare has provided much needed care and support for people with advanced, progressive life-limiting illnesses and to their families within Exeter, East and Mid Devon since 1982. Hospiscare’s origins as a community nursing service mean that it has strong roots in the local community, with the inpatient hospice being built 10 years after its inception in 1992, on the same site as the Royal Devon and Exeter (RD&E) hospital. We celebrated our 35th anniversary in 2017. The CQC rated us as Outstanding in 2016 and we are working hard to maintain this level of quality service

This is an exciting job in a highly respected organisation which is at the heart of the community it serves. This post offers great opportunities and also challenges for the future development of the charity and the services it provides. We want to extend our services to more people, including responding better to the needs of people from disadvantaged and minority groups, and preparing for increased demand from the growing ageing population many of whom have highly complex care needs.

We need someone with energy, integrity and creativity to lead the team into a different and rapidly changing future. 

You will need to demonstrate the following:  
-Significant leadership experience gained at senior level in a complex environment, ideally with some knowledge of the health and social care sector, working with patients or vulnerable people. 
-Able to demonstrate a good level of understanding or insight of the current health environment, the progress of the national and local health strategies and the likely impact and challenges for Hospiscare.
-Able to forge and nurture partnerships and collaborative relationships with a range of organisations both inside and outside healthcare and charitable sectors.
-A strong strategist, able to work with the Board to define a clear direction for Hospiscare and then able to articulate that vision both within and outside the organisation.
