SUMMARY OF ROLE – JOB PURPOSE

To provide support on communications for the General Assembly with a focus on development of  social media presence, managing the website, internal communications and promotion.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To develop and maintain the General Assembly’s website in line with good practice maintaining consistency and quality
  • To produce and edit written and other material for the website
  • To develop the General Assembly’s social media presence, including Facebook and Twitter
  • To manage  the online events diary and document library
  • To develop internal digital communications systems including the uni-news distribution system
  • To promote the work of the General assembly, especially the Annual Meetings, National  Youth Programme and education and training
  • To support media and other campaigns on public policy issues launched by the General Assembly
  • To co-ordinate production of leaflets, brochures and posters
  • To produce  monitoring reports on communications activity
  • To assist with IT support as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

  • Of modern web design and content management
  • Use of social media
  • Of public policy and advocacy work involving support for campaigning, especially digitally
  • Of using Microsoft and Adobe packages
  • Of using Drupal and / or CiviCRM would be an advantage
  • Committed and responsible, respecting confidentiality
  • Of the not for profit sector, including faith organisations (desirable)

Skills

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, especially of but not limited to digital content
  • Content management
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with a range of stakeholders
  • Marketing and communications
  • Team working skills
  • Self-management and prioritising workload
  • Campaigning and advocacy (desirable)

Qualifications

  • Degree other Higher education qualification in relevant subject
