Summary

We're creating a mass movement of people with arthritis, their friends and family and need your help. This exciting role reflects our emerging charity of and for people with arthritis following our merger with Arthritis Care. The role provides leadership to drive involvement through our new charity acting as a catalyst to help teams across all Directorates to engage and create environments where involvement of people with arthritis, family and friends or simply anyone wanting to help can get involved and sees a place and role for themselves. In doing so we will reach more people and help change more lives affected with arthritis.

About the role

In collaboration with key stakeholders, including our Nation Directors, you will set the strategic direction for the development of the charity’s 'involvement' agenda. You will help us build from our starting point of 4,500 people involved with us now to help us draw in tens of thousands of people seeing us as the charity to be a part of and make a positive difference to lives lived with arthritis. From our long-standing volunteers in branches, to sector leading Patient Involvement Partners in research, to volunteers co-designing and co-delivering our services, to those registering on our campaigns network; every gift of involvement is valued and wanted. The role will challenge and stretch us to consider how to do more, offer more, work differently to increase levels of involvement.

To help inform the work you will provide leadership to our local network of branches and groups within England and as well as supporting the involvement element of local services in England. The post will collaborate closely with Nation Directors and key colleague across all Directorates to lead the design, shape, support, celebration and potential of the charity’s involvement offer.

Key requirements

You will have proven experience of developing, delivering and scaling-up a broad spectrum of involvement opportunities alongside the enthusiasm and skills to inspire others. You will also demonstrate:

  • Operational management experience for a national network of local branches and groups run by long standing volunteers.
  • The skills to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships
