An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent, reliable and self-motivated individual to join the team in our Sierra Leone Country Office as Finance and Support Services Officer.

The Finance & Support Services Officer will, under the direction of the Finance & Support Services Manager, be responsible for effective financial management of project fund including the preparation of financial plans and reports, managing the financial aspects of donor funded programmes and work through close collaboration with colleagues, partners and other and will identify areas of growth and improvement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring competent financial management and risk mitigation by ensuring compliance with local regulations and adhering to the organisational Financial Framework with specific respect to implementation of: financial management and controls; financial planning and budgeting; financial monitoring and audits; monitoring and retaining accurate financial records.

They will be responsible for operational management of project funds, preparation of monthly journals, month end AMC checklist and ensure financial records are complete, accurate (budgeting/forecasting, documentation and spending as per the Programme Funding Agreements) and properly filed.  They will also have responsibility for the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and yearly project financial reports including partner variance analysis.

The Finance & Support Services Officer will carry out regular supportive partner financial visits and ensure proper financial monitoring of projects including audit of funds provided, identify risks and provide on the spot solutions through coaching/ mentoring.

Working collaboratively with the partners and programme staff they will prepare yearly budgets, ensuring that partners fund requests and monthly partner financial reports are made promptly. They will also work collaboratively with programme and finance teams to support and strengthen the financial management, accountability and capacity building of partners and work with the team to conduct joint review of programme/project reports, planning and analysis.

They  will support proper financial and resource management of programmes with the joint review of project planning and monitoring reports, auditing of funds provided, analysis of programme delivery and grant management reporting.

In addition to the above they will maintain and regularly update project assets register and ensure project office equipment are in good working order and functions effectively in line with donor and organisation policies and procedures including renewal of vehicle and motorbike licence and insurance.
