Position: Compliance Accountant 
Location: London 
Job Type: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract until March 2019 
Salary: £55,000 per annum

About the role: 

As the Compliance Accountant you will own and lead the provision of finance and accountancy advice to the Regulation Team, playing an important role in securing compliance with campaign finance law by political parties and campaigners. 

The Compliance Accountant will have operational responsibility for the provision of finance and accountancy input to the Commission’s political finance regulatory work, including to the maintenance of the registers of political parties and working on investigations into potential criminal offences. 

This includes ensuring advice given to political parties and campaigners conforms to appropriate accounting standards and good practice and leading on the analysis of accounts and other returns from political parties and campaigners, identifying any issues, themes or trends that require further examination or action. 

About you: 

- Qualified Accountant with recent experience in the analysis of financial reporting or of audit 
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to on-going Continuing Professional Development (CPD) 
- Experience in analysing/auditing accounts to ensure they compile with financial regulations 
- Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the application of accounting standards 
- Substantial experience of producing financial reports and adapting them for use for different audiences and purposes 
- Excellent hands-on IT skills, especially Microsoft Office and financial systems for small/medium organisations 
- Able to demonstrate examples of delivering projects or activities to deadline and quality standards 
- Experience of working flexibly and managing relationships at all levels both internally and externally 
- Knowledge and understanding of the role and operations of political parties
