Senior Communications Officer (Media, PR & Social)
A great opportunity has arisen for a the Senior Communications Officer (Media, PR & Social) for the youth related charity in order to lead on delivering flexible, cost effective and class-leading media communications to enable the charity to achieve objectives across campaigns, fundraising and policy by achieving targeted and effective profile in the media and across multiple online (social and digital platforms).
Key Responsibilities will include:
To manage the charity s image and values to all stakeholders as directed by line manager.
To proactively explore opportunities for media coverage and to establish effective media links to raise the profile of the organisation.
To proactively and responsibly maximise and grow the charity s social media and digital presence across its existing platforms and
To explore potential new platforms for the charity to engage in and from
To lead integrated media campaigns for maximum coverage
To identify relevant tools and tactics to deploy as necessary to enhance communications (cases studies, celebrity, articles, quotes, memes, posts and comments)
To monitor, evaluate and report on all activity
To manage external suppliers of media communications and marketing services, as required.
To lead on communicating with the charity s internal and external stakeholders on sensitive media matters.
To lead on internal staff relations as directed by the line manager.
To manage the production and development of high standard media materials to tight deadlines and run media events as directed.
To work within accordance with charity s branding guidelines.
To ensure the charity s marketing principles and guidelines are communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
To lead on media projects as directed by line manager. To build effective networks with colleagues and provide advice and expertise to staff regarding all aspects of their public profile.
To assist in providing an out of hours media office service.
To determine and work to demanding goals and to evaluate those goals.
To set targets for improved service, to improve on those targets and to implement quality standards.
To contribute to budget setting and to allocate resource effectively and within budget.
To manage work collaboratively and cooperatively with other staff internally.
In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience:
Experience in a similar role
Degree graduate or equivalent and experience in a communications or environment.
Experience in developing and maintaining good working relations with journalists and media specialists .
Excellent written and verbal skills with good attention to detail.
Understanding of principles of marketing, PR and communications
Some experience of crisis management and media handling and the sensitivities
Initiating and planning media campaigns: defining goals, analysing problems and opportunities and liaising with management and clients.
Strong news sense and experience of dealing with the media.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal representations.
Diplomatic and tactful especially when under pressure
Ability to prioritise tasks and deliver to timescales
Good creative sense and ability to translate client s needs
Energetic and enthusiastic.
