About the role:

The Dementia Support Manager (DSM) is responsible for directly line managing Gloucestershire’s team of nine Dementia Advisers (DA). The role of the Dementia Adviser is to offer bespoke advice and support to families and individuals living with dementia – the Dementia Support Manager ensures that every member of the team is appropriately supported through supervisions and appraisals as well as monitoring lone worker systems to ensure the team are kept safe.

The DSM also provides support and offers direction to each DA when they need to reflect on a difficult scenario or when something may need a safeguarding response. This role works closely with the Services Manager to ensure the Dementia Adviser service fits into the County Dementia Pathway and meets the requirements of our commissioning partners.

About you:

We are looking for someone who has a practical understanding of the issues and challenges of working in a community support role, as this insight will help to support the Dementia Adviser team. We would also like someone who has had experience of line managing a team and who understands the different approaches and techniques required to support each individual and ensure best practice.

An overall understanding of dementia would be desirable – but full training is given on the illness and its challenges. It would be helpful if the applicant had an understanding of health & social care services and processes

You may have experience of the following: Support Worker, Social Care, Dementia, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, Social Worker, Community Care, Not For Profit, Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker, Vulnerable People, Voluntary Sector, Care Assistant etc.
