Director of Fundraising
Rennie Grove Hospice Care is a charity providing care and support for patients in Herts and Bucks diagnosed with life-limiting illness. Through our unique 24/7 responsive hospice at home service and a range of day services we make it possible for patients to choose how and where they want to be cared for towards the end of life. The support we provide for families both during the illness and bereavement is an integral part of our care.
We are a registered charity receiving around 13% of our annual income from the NHS. We rely on the generosity of our local community to fund the remainder of our costs. This comes from events, individuals, corporates, trusts, schools, community groups, retail, lottery and Gifts in Wills. Last year our fundraising income was around £3m. Our fundraising team does so much more than simply raising money, and our wonderful teams work with schools, business and other community groups to share information and increase awareness.
We are looking to recruit a Director of Fundraising who embodies our values, understands the future challenges and opportunities for fundraising and is passionate about our community and the people within it.
Coming from a background in the charity sector, you will have multi-income stream experience as well as a track record of leading and developing a team of high performing fundraising professionals. We are so grateful to our staff, volunteers and supporters, and we need an excellent relationship builder, committed to the highest possible levels of donor stewardship to continue these relationships and forge new ones.
Our fundraising has been successful but we need to do more with our portfolio of income, especially with exciting opportunities for innovation and embracing digital. We are looking for somebody with fresh ideas to grow an already established income base. To do this you will need entrepreneurial flair, resilience and a positive mindset to deliver in a challenging yet highly rewarding environment.
The right candidate will be able to demonstrate how they work effectively with a range of stakeholders including the Chief Executive, Board of Trustees, volunteers, staff and partners. We are seeking somebody who can also demonstrate evidence of delivering highly effective income strategies, together with the strong management of staff and a focus on the lifetime value of donors. It is not essential for this person to come from the hospice sector, although an understanding of hospice funding and an appreciation of the nuances of our sector will be important. We’re open to somebody stepping up to their first Director role, and there will be a tremendous amount of support from the senior team.
