London Black Women’s Project (LBWP) is a leading women’s organisation in East London. Set up in 1986 to provide specialist support services to BMER women and girls experiencing gender-based violence, the organisation offers the following services: refuge accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence, counselling and therapeutic support services, early intervention and prevention work and a community legal advice service.
We are seeking a counsellor and therapeutic support worker. The salary for this post is SO1 at £26,081 per annum pro rata for job share. This post is offered on a fixed term basis with an initial probationary period of six months. The person should have the following skills:
Experience working around violence against women and girls providing therapeutic support in individual and support group settings.
Knowledge and experience of working with women and girls to challenge and address the impact of all forms of gender-based violence and support their recovery and healing through empowerment based approaches.
Experience of healing and recovery work using young women and girls voice in the support process.
Strong work planning and project management skills.
Ability to deliver projects on target and undertake monitoring.
