 The Woodhall Estate is a private estate in rural Hertfordshire, owned by the same family for over 200 years. It centres on Woodhall Park, where the mansion house and campus is tenanted by Heath Mount School. The wider business integrates residential and commercial property portfolios, commercial farming, forestry and environmental operations, as well as venues for events, enterprise and rural education. The estate is just 25 miles north of London, with excellent access to national road, rail and air networks. Local train services to London take from as little as 30 minutes.

The Estate is held by a group of 12 entities in a company, partnership and trust structure. It is traditionally and sustainably managed to the highest of standards with decisions always made in the long-term interest. The estate seeks to demonstrate cutting-edge integrated estate management and to continually modernise and strategically diversify the group.

The role of the Group Finance Manager is to provide financial control, management accounting and other functions for (a) the estate’s operations across 5 departments; (b) for the family’s group of 12 entities which are all unique with differing internal and external requirements. The successful candidate will be passionate towards rural enterprise and a business that is evolving and diversifying. This will require a flexible approach to the work involved.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Qualified accountancy certification (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Excellent post qualification experience
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Strong interpretation and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Integrity and high level of discretion

The successful candidate may have:

  • Experience of trust structures, related taxation and family office matters
  • Industry-specific experience within property management/development or commercial farming
