Combat Stress was established in 1919. We are the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For almost a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Today we provide UK-wide support to veterans from every service and every conflict, on the phone and online, in the community and at our treatment centres. We’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to take on the future.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Content Officer in our Communications Department. This role, which will report in to our Senior Content Officer, will work with colleagues across the organisation to develop and deliver engaging content to raise awareness about the work of Combat Stress and the impact of our treatment on veterans. This includes print materials, for example the Combat Stress magazine and annual report, the Combat Stress website and social media channels as well as fundraising materials and event collateral. In addition, you will regularly compile case studies detailing veteran’s first-hand accounts of our life-changing treatment. The Content Officer will ensure a clear tone of voice and house style is used across all content channels.

You will have a keen eye for detail and possess excellent copy writing, editing and proof reading skills as well as good oral communications skills. You will need to be approachable, responsive and work well within a team.

What we offer
You will work within a charity that is growing and evolving at an exponential rate for the climate and one that has a fantastic cause and committed follower base.

In addition, we offer the following benefits:

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with an increase upon five years of continuous service
  • Competitive stakeholder pension scheme - contributions matched up to 10%
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Discount shopping
  • Cycle to work scheme
