Senior Data Analyst
The Big Lottery Fund (the Fund) distributes around £650 million of National Lottery Funding across the UK each year supporting health, educational, environmental, and charitable projects. They are fortunate to be able to support around 12,000 projects each year with grants ranging from as little as £500 to multi-million-pound programmes. By funding good causes, the Fund makes a real difference to local communities. The scale and diversity of their activity produces grant-making information of exceptional scope, richness and complexity. This certainly brings its own challenges, but it also means that there are very significant opportunities to help catalyse change and to make the most of this information for the benefit of their customers.
We are currently recruiting a Senior Data Analyst to join the new Information Team. The Team has a UK-wide remit to transform the way the Fund think about and use their data through an ambitious programme of change being developed within a fast-moving and demanding information environment. This person will work with the new Data Warehouse reporting system and text-mining technologies to make the most of existing data. The Fund uses Tableau to make this information accessible by design, and to encourage the sense of enquiry and curiosity that underpins better decision-making.
The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running, so experience of working with grant-making data could be an advantage. In any case, your excellent statistical skills will enable you to produce robust information confidently from samples and partial data, often working to tight deadlines. Excellent Excel and data manipulation skills are essential for this role, and you should have a working knowledge of SQL and relational databases. Experience of creating interactive data visualisations with Tableau or a similar product would be a distinct advantage.
While excellent technical skills are a requirement, this is not simply a technical role. You will need great communication and people skills for this high-profile job, and we'll be looking for evidence that you can help bring about collaborative evidence-based change.
Location Flexible (London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Exeter, Cardiff, Glasgow, Belfast or Newtown.)
A full job description will be provided to candidates shortlisted by Prospectus. Please apply by providing a CV in Word format; no cover letter is required at this stage.
