Director of Development
Science shapes our lives, our culture and the world around us. It’s the medical treatment that may save your life. It’s the device in your pocket that connects you to the world. And it’s how we will solve the major global challenges of the future. Our vision is a world where everyone is inspired to think more deeply about science and its place in our lives.
The Royal Institution, founded in 1799, encourages curiosity and promotes critical thinking by providing opportunities to actively engage in discussion with leading scientists; explore our history in the Faraday Museum; take part in immersive education programmes such as workshops in the L’Oréal Young Scientist Centre and hands-on Masterclasses throughout the UK; and watch our iconic CHRISTMAS LECTURES started in 1825 by Michael Faraday
Director of Development
The Royal Institution
Further to successfully undergoing a period of change, The Royal Institution has recently appointed Dr Shaun Fitzgerald as its new Director and a new five year strategy has just been approved by the board. Developed by staff, and informed by audience research as well as input from Ri members, supporters and other stakeholders, the new strategy provides a compelling and coherent direction for the future.
We are looking to appoint a Director of Development to create and implement a robust and compelling fundraising strategy to underpin the new Ri strategy. As a member of the Ri Leadership Team, she or he will contribute to strategic planning across the organisation whilst providing fundraising expertise and supporting a high performing Development Team.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience at a senior level of fundraising, with a track record of income growth from multiple sources. He or she will bring considerable experience of developing relationships with high net worth individuals, and a track record of success across the donor cycle. The new Director will be a leader, used to managing and developing teams as well as collaborating with colleagues in other departments to effect positive change. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior fundraiser who is ambitious, motivated by success and enthused by the prospect of helping more people engage in a lifelong journey with science.
Deadline for applications: Wednesday 11 April
