We are recruiting a new Chair to join and lead the BBC’s Charity Appeals Advisory Committee which is made up of independent experts from outside the Corporation who advise and support the BBC’s Executive Committee. The term of the current Chair ends in June 2018 and a new Chair is sought, initially for a three year term of office, with a further three year extension by mutual agreement. It's a voluntary post, with all related expenses covered.
The AAC takes an overview and provides scrutiny where required of specific fund-raising projects such as Children in Need, Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day and Sport Relief, St Martin-in- the-Fields Christmas Appeal, DEC emergency appeals and other projects where funds are raised for charities. The AAC select the charities that are given an access appeal on the BBC via the Radio 4 Appeal or BBC One Lifeline. Last year, the BBC helped charities to raise over £136 million.
The Ideal Candidate
Proven leadership and chairing skills supported by an extensive background in the charitable sector will be essential.
