They’re changing the way care is designed. Radically.

As an established charity dedicated to empowering people with learning disabilities to live the best life possible, they’re now embarking on an innovative, new project that will challenge the way support is designed and delivered.

Over the last 18 months, they’ve been researching, measuring and evidencing how they can improve outcomes for the people they support. With the backing of the funding authority, they launched their Expert Practitioner Model in a transition service for young adults with very complex needs and challenging behaviour, in September.

This pioneering project promises to revolutionise the way support services are delivered; success here would mean radical innovation in how care and support is delivered across the nation.

For you, it’s a unique opportunity to embark on a progressive career in the social care sector and gain a post graduate diploma, which will start in September 2018, funded by the Charity. You will also have the opportunity to ‘buddy-up’ with the first cohort of Graduate Trainee Expert Practitioners and gain the valuable support role before you start your academic study.

As one of 10 Graduate Trainee Expert Practitioners, you’ll creatively support a lady with complex needs to meaningfully engage in her local community and live the best life possible, by balancing hands-on, daily support activities with the application of academic theory. That includes gaining an in-depth understanding of why a person might exhibit challenging behaviour and developing outcomes-based ways of measuring behavioural change.

You’ll also be supported in completing a two-year training programme starting in September 2018 that combines on-the-job and distance learning to achieve a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis. Along the way, you’ll be tasked with completing self-directed study across a range of subjects, from syndromes and diagnosis to business and management skills.

Whether you’re an undergraduate looking for a post-graduate opportunity or first career step, or an experienced, degree qualified Support Worker, you’ll be comfortable both providing hands on personal care and continuing your studies. More importantly, you’ll be keen to develop your support skills in preparation for the academic study which will help develop your ideas into action and get a buzz from supporting people to develop and grow. And, most importantly, you’ll be passionate about and committed to championing change in care that delivers benefits for all.
