Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is seeking a full time Finance and Operations Officer to work as part of our busy Finance and Operations Team, maintaining and reporting on financial and accounting matters. The successful applicant will provide administrative support in order to meet legal requirements and to support organisational management.

We are looking for an individual with a finance qualification who can demonstrate their experience working in charity finance

The Role

Finance

To manage, and coordinate, the effective running of HMDT’s finance and payroll function in accordance with HMDT’s financial policies and procedures.

  • To deliver bookkeeping duties and compile accurate financial records using our accounting software
  • To prepare monthly management accounts
  • To prepare and produce monthly expenditure reports to the Senior Management Team (SMT)
  • To support the Finance and Resources Manager (FRM) in ensuring the smooth running of the Finance and HR Sub Committee
  • To provide financial reports and analysis to staff, in particular the SMT, as requested
  • To have responsibility for financial information to enable budgetary decision making
  • To prepare and produce cash flow statements, income and expenditure accounts
  • To ensure all purchase invoices, expenses, petty cash and credit card transactions are authorised, coded and input to the computerised accounting system in accordance with financial procedures and payments are made and received within set timescales
  • To produce and provide financial information to inform funding applications, reports to funders and published reports, as required
  • To assist with the preparation of year end accounts
  • To maintain bank records, performing monthly bank reconciliations
  • To operate the organisation’s petty cash
  • Where requested, to liaise with the external auditors, bank and related organisations
  • To continuously review and improve the systems in place
  • To ensure all finance policies and procedures are reviewed regularly and comply with current legislation
  • To be the point of contact for all finance queries
  • To ensure all finance and HR matters are kept in strictest confidence

Operations Support

To support the FRM and Operations team

  • To assist the FRM with HR admin and staff recruitment
  • To be one of the first points of contact on the HMDT main telephone line
  • To review and update the organisation’s policies as and when required
  • To support the CEO travel arrangements for International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance
