Dementia devastates lives. By 2021, 1 million people will be living with the condition. But dementia won't win. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer's Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia - wherever they are, whatever they're going through. Everything we do is informed and inspired by them.
We are the UK's leading dementia charity. Every day, we work tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. We provide expert information, training, and support services to all those who need our help. And we are creating a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice.
About the role
To maintain and continue building our exceptional community of volunteers, we are now looking for an experienced and well-motivated person to join us.
You will be responsible for recruiting, and supporting our volunteers across our Central Office teams.
This will include matching the skills and availability of volunteers to the available roles. You will also promote volunteering opportunities and spearhead our volunteer recruitment opportunities.
In order to make sure that the organisation is able to deliver on its 5 year strategy the Alzheimer's Society is in the process of reviewing our internal infrastructure.
It is vital that we are structured in a way that delivers the biggest impact with and for people affected by dementia, and that we engage with our volunteers to support us in achieving this.
At this exciting time, the Volunteering Officer role will form part of this review to ensure the job description still meets our needs and requirements.
This could result in changes to the existing job description, the timescale of any changes are to be determined.
Along with excellent people skills, you must have the confidence and expertise to communicate our vision and inspire others to take up volunteering roles.
You will need a relevant NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) or will have otherwise demonstrated that you have the relevant skills and experience to help us achieve our goals.
Methodical in approach and proficient in the use of MS Office packages.
