Director of Data, Foresight and Analysis
This role will play a central role in shaping England’s new independent regulator for our world-leading higher education sector, helping to deliver the OfS’s mission of ensuring that every student, whatever their background, has a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers.
The OfS was established by the Higher Education and Research Act in 2017. It will become fully operational in April 2018 when it will replace the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the Office for Fair Access.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the post holder will contribute to collective strategic decisions to develop new organisational strategy, culture and systems, and to enable the delivery of the OfS’s objectives.
With responsibility for leading the development and implementation of the OfS’ data, foresight and analysis functions, the post holder will lead the development of a new data strategy for the OfS, and align the team to achieve it. The successful candidate will need to bring significant experience of leading teams to deliver a broad range of data, analysis and insight functions. They will need to establish a foresight function that identifies and anticipates future global trends. They will need to be comfortable in operating in a high profile and pressurised role, and enjoy challenge and scrutiny and ensuring integrity and rigour within large and complex data sets. We are looking for those who understand the latest thinking in data science practice and how data can support policy development.
This is an exciting opportunity for those who wish to be part of setting up a new and powerful organisation that has at its heart the interests of all students, and to help regulate and influence a sector that is of significant importance to the entire country.
