Deputy Area Welfare Manager - RAF Charity
Our client is a membership organisation and registered charity that provides welfare support to the RAF family.
Across the UK in 2016 they carried out 13,800 home visits, helped tell thousands of bedtime stories to children whose parents were away on operations, and gave tailored holidays to 2,500 RAF veterans, widows and family at their Wings Break hotels. Their support ranges from simply providing conversation and friendship to preparing and submitting application forms for financial assistance.
DEPUTY AREA WELFARE MANAGER
Hours: 37 ½ hours per week
Salary:* £19,135 – £20,142 (*Starting Salary) per annum
The organisation is looking to appoint a Deputy Area Welfare Manager to provide support to the Area Welfare Manager (AWM) covering the Scotland & Overseas Area and to deputise in their absence. The role is office based in Edinburgh with occasional requirement to visit beneficiaries or caseworkers within the area.
The Deputy Area Welfare Manager will carry a delegated welfare caseload of complex cases and undertake specific administrative duties within the Area Welfare Department. They will assist the AWM in supporting Area welfare volunteers, caseworkers and branches in their welfare casework. They will foster and develop good working relationships with other charities and statutory services in the welfare sector.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with clients and volunteers. They will have a strong administrative background with good attention to detail and methodical, organised working practices. They will also have knowledge of welfare services and systems and be competent in using I.T, specifically Word, Outlook, Excel and Internet. In addition to this, a driving licence and access to own vehicle is required for this post. A Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check is also a requirement for this post.
