Chief Operating Officer
The Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham is one of the largest Archdioceses in the UK. Extending from Stoke in the North to the Thames in the South it includes seven cities and five counties – an area of over five million people and serves a Catholic population of around 450,000 through a network of 224 parishes and some 240 schools.
We are now seeking an exceptional candidate as our Chief Operating Officer. Working closely with the Archbishop, Area Bishops and the Vicar General our Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for all lay personnel, and the financial and property resource management of the Archdiocese. You will contribute towards the growth of the Church and the development of structures and practices to encourage and support collaborative ministry – both in parishes and in the various agencies operating within the Diocese.
You will be committed to the Mission of the Church; a collaborative leader who can combine strategic planning with practical implementation. With a proven track record in senior management in a major multi-site organisation and experience of the charity sector, you will have the ability to drive through change where required alongside the sensitivity to appreciate that the Catholic Church is a longstanding institution where Christian values are paramount.
We are seeking a pragmatic and strategic leader, able to both develop and implement effective strategies and policies. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels. You will be an experienced leader of people – inspiring, motivating and supportive of our committed and dedicated team.
This appointment comes at an exciting time in the development of the Church – a time when we have much to contribute to the wider society in terms of ethical and spiritual values and a strong, committed Chief Operating Officer will be vital to fulfil the charity’s Mission.
