Over the past ten years, Independent Age has been through a major transformation. We’ve moved from operating as a benevolent trust, to establishing ourselves as a charity that provides impact at scale for older people. We’ve successfully re-engineered our core service offering, developed our profile in thought leadership, and begun to build an evidence base through policy, research and media. We are already punching above our weight and are incredibly proud of the successes we have achieved so far. Last year, 1 million people accessed our services.

Our plan is to significantly accelerate the number of people who get and give support through Independent Age. However, the opportunity doesn’t just lie in increasing volume, but in developing ways to build meaningful engagement with our key audiences. In order to seize this opportunity and help us turn this vision into a reality, we’ve taken the bold step of building a brand new Engagement Division, bringing together the key functions which drive the public to Independent Age – Marketing, Communications and Fundraising.

We are now seeking a brand new Assistant Director of Fundraising to help lead the building of this new division in an organisation undergoing tremendous growth and with the resources to truly unlock its potential. Working closely with the new Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications and new Heads of department across our new Engagement Division, this role offers the chance to be part of a brand new, high-calibre management team responsible for shaping and driving the organisation.

You will be an influential and ambitious senior level fundraiser with experience of strategic leadership and transformational change, a proven track record of leading voluntary income strategies and growth, and of building brand new fundraising operations. An inspiring leader you will have experience of shaping new teams to succeed. You will be adept at building and maintaining strategic partnerships and will project credibility and enthuse a broad range of stakeholders at all levels. A dynamic and self-assured ambassador, it goes without saying that you will possess exceptional communication and influencing skills. Above all, you’ve reached a stage in your career in which you want to make significant social impact.

If you are inspired by this unique and rare opportunity to build a brand new sustainable voluntary income portfolio in a growth organisation driven to deliver increased impact with older people, then we would love to hear from you.
