Eden Brown are working with a well know Health Charity based in Birmingham who are looking for a Group Coordinator. My Client is offering a hourly rate of £10.58 per hour, the contact is for 8 weeks only working 9-5 with 1 hrs lunch break.

The main purpose of the role is to co-ordinate, organise and facilitate the successful and safe provision of services delivered in a group setting. Group activities can inform, educate, support and provide structured activities with identified outcomes for attendees in a group setting. Groups are for a specific type of client, for example groups for people with dementia only or people with dementia and their carer.

Duties and key responsibilities

 To setup, promote, establish, organise and facilitate group(s).
 To take account of the individual needs of group attendees when designing group sessions and adjusting the programme as necessary.
 Inform group attendees of any charges for attending the group(s) and ensure all new attendees are provided with a group welcome letter and any other information of the group(s).
 To seek and record attendee feedback at every session and complete an annual evaluation to understand if attendees needs and service outcomes are being met and to inform service improvement and developments.
 To have an exit strategy for people with dementia and their carers in line with the group(s) eligibility criteria, for example attendees whose needs can no longer be met by the group or they are no longer eligible and signpost to other, more appropriate services.
 To ensure that the group is appropriately organised and arrangements communicated with attendees, staff, volunteers and facilitators and that the relevant health & safety checks and risk assessments have been completed.
 To ensure that sessions run to time and are well designed to allow participants to engage fully and to maximise their enjoyment and beneficial impact.
 To be responsible for sourcing and setting up appropriate venue(s) and for refreshments arrangements (if applicable) at each group.
 To be responsible for arranging attendance of speakers, professionals and activities in accordance with the service specification/operational framework requirements.
 To work with staff and manage volunteers who support the group, ensuring that they have clarity about their roles.
 To record group attendance and activity in line with Society requirements and using the computerised record system.

The Successful candidate must have the below:

 Good organisation and facilitation skills
 Good communication and listening skills
 Experience in a care or support environment
 Experience of conflict resolution
 A knowledge of dementia
 An understanding of the value of groups activities to people living with dementia
 Experience of managing a budget and allocating resources effectively
 Experience of co-ordinating volunteers and
 An understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers
 Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Health & Safety and the Mental Capacity Act
 An understanding of the need for service user confidentiality
 An understanding of collaborative working
 Able to use Information Technology
