Our client is a care home devoted to helping support people to live well with dementia through all stages of their journey. They are looking for dedicated Support Workers for day and night shifts. 

Position: Care and Support Worker 
Location: Worthing 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: Day and Night Shifts 
Salary: £7.80 to £8.66 dependent on experience 

About the role: 

The Support Worker will deliver person centred and effective day to day care and support to a small group of people with dementia living in a specialist residential setting, through safe, effective and caring day to day care and support provision, which is responsive to individuals’ needs, and in accordance with company policies and procedures and the principles of best practice 

You will work with the Team Leader as part of a team of staff working in a designated suite to create a homely environment for residents. 

About you: 

- QCF Qualification (NVQ Level 2) in health and social care or an equivalent qualification, including relevant dementia care units or a commitment to work toward it (an enhanced hourly rate will be payable when this requirement is met) 
- Genuine desire to provide care and support to people with dementia and improve their quality of life 
- Experience of caring for older people in a paid or voluntary capacity 
- A commitment to meet the requirements of the Care Certificate 
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing 
- Availability to work some unsocial hours i.e. early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays 
- Satisfactory DBS check 
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with dementia desirable 
- Experience in providing care and support to people with dementia in a residential setting desirable 
- Understanding of mental capacity and deprivation of liberty safeguards desirable 
- Understanding of the Care Act 2014 and CQC regulatory framework desirable
