Are you an experienced science communicator who can engage audiences to support breast cancer research?

We’re Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity – and we’re dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. We believe that if we all act now, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live - and live well.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to raise the profile of Breast Cancer Now’s world-leading research taking place across the UK and Ireland, and support colleagues to raise vital funds to speed up our progress against breast cancer.

Right now breast cancer is at a tipping point. More women are surviving. But more are being diagnosed than ever before. One in eight women in the UK will face breast cancer in their lifetime. And every 45 minutes, another woman dies from the disease.

We’re going to change that and you will deliver effective communications to inspire others to support us. You’ll engage our audiences through compelling content across our all our communications channels including PR, our website, social media and e-newsletters, and will lead on the development of new content partnerships with outside organisations to widen the reach and impact of our content. You’ll also act as a media spokesperson for Breast Cancer Now, ensuring the charity’s expert voice is heard in response to breaking news stories.

About you

You will need a degree in a relevant scientific discipline and a sound understanding of breast cancer, or cancer, and medical research processes. You will be an excellent communicator with demonstrable experience of translating complex scientific information for a range of audiences. You will be able to work effectively in a small, busy team and lead on projects involving colleagues across the organisation. You’ll also build productive relationships with our community of researchers across the UK and Ireland.
