Family Support Practitioner

Our client enables people to gain the skills they need to overcome poverty and homelessness. They work with homeless young people, badly housed families and others in need. 

Position: Family Support Practitioner 
Location: London 
Contract: Permanent, part time 
Hours: 16 hours a week during term time; 30 hours a week during school holidays 
Salary: £13,862 per annum actual

About the role: 

The Family Support Practitioner supports the delivery of child and family support services in order that low income and vulnerable families have improved access to services, employment opportunities and life chances. You will plan and develop a schedule of after school / holiday and family support activities that responds to the needs of low income and vulnerable families within south Westminster. 

About you: 

The successful candidate will hold a childcare/family worker qualification, minimum level 3 and preferably at NVQ level 6 (or equivalent experience) and will be able to demonstrate experience of delivering parenting sessions and of working with children of primary school age. 

You will have proven experience of working with vulnerable families and children in a non-residential setting and experience of participating in multi-agency working to support families. You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain concise records and the ability to work in a team. Experience of supervising staff and volunteers is also required. 

Familiarity with OFSTED regulations and requirements and experience of drafting donor funding proposals and reports would be highly desirable. Equally, it’d be a great boost to your application if you’re able to speak a community language in addition to English (Arabic, Bengali) and have proven experience of developing services in response to emerging client needs.
