Are you an ambassador for data with specialist knowledge relating to the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with Crisis to recruit a Data Protection Officer who will lead the organisation through a change programme relating to new GDPR legal regulatory requirements and best practise.

Crisis work side by side with people to help them rebuild their lives. From decades of experience of working with thousands of homeless people, they know what's needed to leave homelessness behind for good. They use this experience to shape the services provided and the changes they campaign for.

Based within the Corporate Services team, the successful candidate will lead on the transition to GDPR across the entire organisation. You will be responsible for conducting audits and assessments for existing and new systems as well as reporting on data protection and privacy issues to the Audit and Risk committee. In addition you will act as the first point of contact for individuals and supervisory authorities where relevant, including staff training on their awareness of data protections issues and obligations.

To be considered for this role it is key to have substantial experience in data protection privacy with the ability to translate GDPR regulatory requirements into auditable processes. Experience of negotiating data privacy terms, privacy impact assessments, and subject access requests is essential and you must have a strong understanding of data security regulation and best practise. Excellent reporting and presentation skills relating particularly to technology is required for this role, and you must have the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences. This role is ideally suited to someone with experience of working in a medium to large sized organisation.
