Position: Dementia Support Worker 
Location: Wakefield 
Contract type: Permanent 
Hours: 28 per week 
Salary: £15,988 per annum (actual)

About the role: 

They are looking for a Dementia Support Worker to work across the Wakefield district providing information and support to people living with dementia and their carers. The purpose of the role is to help service users to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives. 

The Dementia Support Workers will support people with dementia and their carers to identify their needs and to access relevant services, as well as supporting services in the Wakefield & Five Towns. Our client knows that every person is unique so providing person centred dementia support is essential. They offer varied services across Wakefield including providing dementia support at Pinderfields Hospital and Wakefield Memory Clinic as well as facilitating four Forget Me Not Cafes, two Singing for the Brain Groups and additional activity groups within the community and being a part of awareness raising activities. 

The position is subject to a successful DBS Check. 

About you: 

They are looking for individuals with good IT skills, NVQ level 3 or equivalent, good communication skills and have an understanding of dementia. It is desirable that you have experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies. This is a fast paced and varied role and offers great opportunities to develop and train.
