Information Systems Manager - University - Infrastructure & SQL
A leading University is seeking an Information & Systems Manager for a crucial role working onsite at a hospital laboratory on a programme related to vaccination and immunology. The role is offered on a 1 year fixed term contract, and could be extended subject to programme funding.
The role will involve supporting the programmes' IT infrastructure (servers, networks and systems) in addition to running some SQL and database queries.
The Information Systems Manager will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of servers and software, ensuring back-up systems operate effectively, supporting purchase of hardware and software, deploying technology infrastructure, contributing to training of systems' users, and contributing to organisational policy regarding quality standards and strategic planning. The Information Systems Manager also provide personalised customer service to a range of stakeholders, designing and executing database queries to provide data for research and for reporting purposes.
The individual will be expected to act as a technical expert for the programme and interact closely with a multi-disciplinary teams in the UK, US and Africa. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must also be able to relate well with others, form positive relationships with a wide range of people and to work as part of a team, as well as independently. A creative approach to problem solving, you must also be highly motivated, committed to meeting deadlines, and have the ability to show initiative.
Essential candidate requirements:
-Scientific / statistical degree or data management background. However, demonstrated knowledge or equivalent in absence of both will be considered if that has been gained in a clinical research setting
-Experience with Oracle, SQL Server Databases and SQL/TSQL queries
-Experience of operational IT systems management / infrastructure, and good knowledge of windows products
-Problem-solving skills with the ability to take a logical and analytical approach
-Willingness to assist others and ability to work with diverse individuals and organisations
-Previous experience of Laboratory Information Management Systems and data management
-Experience of configuration and development of LabWare LIMS
-Knowledge of Citrix XenApp® server 6.5 and Virtual Environments (VMware, Virtualbox)
-Knowledge of Data Warehousing Solutions
-Knowledge of Crystal Reports applications
-Experience of handling large clinical trial and epidemiological datasets
