Art Nouveau elegance, Viennese Baroque grandeur and contemporary Scottish murals, the King’s Theatre is an architectural gem in need of love.

One of Scotland’s oldest and most popular theatres, the 110 year old building is home to a wide variety of performances and attracts audiences from every walk-of-life. It now faces challenges around accessibility and current health and safety and fire regulations. To ensure the Theatre can attract prestigious productions and performers, it has to modernise. Likewise, the venue must be accessible for its audience and have commercially viable facilities to maximise revenue.

The Festival City Theatres Trust has embarked on an ambitious capital campaign to raise the £25m required to renovate the theatre whilst retaining its history and unique character. This will allow it to retain its place at the heart of Edinburgh’s cultural landscape and as ‘the people’s theatre’ for future generations.

The Trust has created two crucial new posts which will sit within the newly formed Development team and raise significant funds from philanthropic sources, trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships.

The role of Senior Development Executive – Grants will be responsible for achieving income from trusts and foundations. You will have superb writing skills and the ability to vary your writing style for different audiences. You will write proposals for a number of different channels to secure income for both the capital campaign as well as ongoing educational and community projects. The Trust are looking for someone highly organised, used to handling a large case-load of work and comfortable in working with senior level staff and donors.

If you have a passion for Edinburgh and its place on the international stage as a world-renowned city of culture, don’t miss this opportunity!
