The United Kingdom Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association (UKBJJA) is looking to appoint two independent directors to its Board of Directors. The Board is charged with the responsibility of providing strategic direction for the organisation and to work promote the sport and martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), with the aim of achieving recognition from the national sports councils. Being a director in the sport and recreation sector is rewarding and invigorating. You will be working with a national governing body for a growing sport in its exciting early stages. Sport engages and benefits communities and people, and this would be an energising opportunity to help develop and grow the sport in the UK.

The UKBJJA is a non-profit organisation. We aim to preserve and protect the integrity of BJJ as a performance based martial art, promote BJJ and encourage wider participation in all areas of the sport, and provide a framework for national recognition of the sport. The sport has seen significant growth in recent years and with several thousand members the UKBJJA is now in the final stages of completing an application to Sport England to become the recognised national governing body.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who are interest in using their expertise to help promote and develop the sport. Ideally we would like experience in one or more of the following areas

  • Safeguarding / Child Protection
  • Youth sport / schools sport
  • Financial Management

The position will be voluntary although appropriate expenses will be covered.
