An exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant looking to progress their finance career. 

Our client is the UK’s first independent youth service mutual and social enterprise. They are a thriving social business creating value in their community. They provide guidance and support to approximately 5000 young people each year. They have circa 170 staff and an annual turnover of approximately £5,000,000, operating in a challenging financial environment.

About the Role: 

This is a great opportunity for someone who is progressing their finance career to join their social enterprise and help them achieve their social mission. 

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for providing a range of financial support duties and administering the organisation’s general ledger and finance system, Xero. 

About You: 

You will have a good general education including GCSEs, or the equivalent, in English and Maths. It would also be beneficial if you are qualified or part-qualified in a recognised qualification such as AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA, or alternatively/additionally have an Accounting or Finance University Degree. 

Additionally, you will have knowledge and experience of wide-ranging financial processes and reconciliations, gained from working in a finance setting. Experience of financial monitoring, evaluation and reporting is essential, as is the ability to budget and forecast expenditure and report on this in a clear and coherent manner. If you have previous payroll administration experience that would be advantageous, but training will be provided. Experience of creating and managing database systems and platforms would also be an advantage, as would experience in using the Xero Finance System, or equivalent. 

Alongside your finance experience you will also have previous experience of general administration in an office setting and be a confident user of IT systems, including Microsoft Office Word. Previous experience of using Google Docs would be an advantage. 

You will be a positive team player, with a “can do” attitude and a willingness to work flexibly. 

You may have experience of the following: Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Financial Administrator, Accounts Administrator, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, NFP, Not for Profit etc.
