They also coordinate a UK wide network of people, businesses and media to join the search for the estimated 250,000 people who go missing each year. 

Position: Volunteering Manager 
Location: Location: Mortlake, South West London (12 mins from Clapham Junction and 23 mins from Waterloo) 
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 hours per week, some out of office hour’s work will be required 
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role: 

The Volunteering Manager will provide leadership to their volunteering function with responsibility for designing and implementing a Volunteering Strategy to meet the strategic aims and operational requirements of the organisation in line with their 5 year Strategic Plan as well as providing a great experience for volunteers themselves. 

You will lead the path in ensuring the growth of the charity is met with volunteer support and create a culture of ‘thinking big’ about the scale and impact of volunteering for the charity across the UK. 

About You: 

The successful candidate will have experience of managing or leading a volunteering operation to deliver services to vulnerable people including and experience of recruiting and selecting volunteers. You will also have experience of designing and delivering induction and training programmes for volunteers, experience of safeguarding and supporting volunteers including those who have been affected by issues linked to the charity’s work would be desirable. 

Additionally you will have a good standard of education, a volunteer management or HR qualification or management qualification would also be an advantage. Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people is desirable as is experience of developing volunteer strategy/ies. It would also be an advantage if you have experience of obtaining external accreditation for volunteering activity. 

You will have knowledge of the volunteer ‘market’ and ways of attracting suitable volunteers and knowledge of good practice in the management of volunteers including safeguarding, skill development and retention. You will also have excellent communication skills, both formal and informal, in writing and with presentations. Knowledge of and ability to design learning & development activities including high quality e-learning is also essential. 

Occasional travel across the UK, including occasional overnight trips and occasional out of office hour’s work may be required. An enhanced criminal record check (DBS) is also required.
