Director of Fundraising
Director of Fundraising
Salary up to £70,000
The Macular Society is the national charity for anyone affected by central vision loss. With more than 23,000 members we are the largest membership group in the sight loss sector and the voice of people with macular conditions. We are also one of the few sight loss charities that actively fund and support research into macular disease. Since 1990 we have invested more than £3.8 million to fund 62 different research projects, thanks to the generous donations of our members and supporters.
We are now looking for a new Director of Fundraising to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team of professional fundraisers to deliver significant income growth. In this key, strategic role, you will be responsible for maximising income generation as well as creating a new five-year fundraising strategy to be launched in 2018. The new strategy will be created from the exciting New Ambition Creative Laboratory developed in conjunction with Alan Clayton Associates.
You will be a senior fundraiser with a strong and successful track record including in major gifts and corporate fundraising. You’ll also be an effective and inspiring manager who can lead a highly dedicated and professional team to succeed. You will possess outstanding communication skills and will be effective at forming and maintaining relationships with a wide range of our internal and external stakeholders and partners. You will lead the development of our relationships with high level donors. With your finger on the pulse, you will be innovative and bring a good understanding of digital fundraising and how to maximise it to our best advantage.
The Society is ambitious and focused and we are looking for candidates driven by our mission but who also understand our values, the sensitive nature of working with older disabled beneficiaries or who have worked to raise funds for medical research. You will be committed to achieving a step change in our fundraising and our organisation.
