Young People's Project Worker 

Our client support people who face disadvantage or discrimination to have a voice that counts. Providing advocacy and user involvement services across England, They are a growing organisation working with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected. 

Position: Young People's Project Worker 
Location: Cambridge 
Job Type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 8 hours per week 
Salary: Up to £22,500 pro rata

About the role: 

The Project worker will support the Young People's Speak Out Council Representative. They will need supporting at consultations, events and a range of meetings. This includes both internal and external meetings. There will be occasions where the project worker will be required to feedback information and consultation findings in place of the leader. They must therefore be comfortable presenting to a wide range of professionals and people with learning disabilities in various settings. 

This role will involve working on the Speak Out Council's projects, leading on preparing for adulthood (the period before, during and shortly after the move for young people aged 14-25 from children's to adult services). This will involve developing and sustaining links with schools and colleges across Cambridgeshire and consulting with young people regularly on a range of topics. 

The role will involve county wide travel and require flexible working, as there will be occasions where there may be events during evenings or weekends. 

About you: 

The successful candidate will have experience of working with people to ensure their rights and their voices are heard, and experience of working with vulnerable adults and / or children. You will have experience of managing relationships and of representing an organisation externally. 

You will be an excellent communicator with experience of report writing and of working with a range of different stakeholders. You will also have IT skills and a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A full and clean Driving Licence with access to a car in order to visit locations across Cambridgeshire is essential. 

Experience working in the Charity sector would be an advantage, as would knowledge of health and Social Care law, policy etc., Advocacy and National Best Practice Standards and the Action for Advocacy Code of Practice. A degree level qualification would be beneficial, as would experience in a role that requires outstanding communication skills to achieve excellent results.
