What the job involves

The role of the Knowledge Team

The Knowledge team at Prostate Cancer UK is critical to developing the robust evidence base that underpins our work to drive improvements for men with or at risk of prostate cancer. They ensure we are ahead of the curve on clinical advances. The team is relied upon to identify, analyse, interpret and explain data sources. Their activity therefore feeds into major decisions about the specific improvements and changes that men need and where we target our resources to have most impact.

Where we have data gaps, the knowledge team commissions or undertakes research to fill those gaps, often publishing the findings to ensure clinical stakeholder adoption. The team’s expertise is also vital in assessing how close we are to achieving our ambitious ‘10 years to tame prostate cancer’ strategy.

The knowledge team has organisation-wide oversight of how Prostate Cancer UK uses evidence and is therefore integral to virtually all the charity’s activity.

What we want from you

You will be responsible for providing organisation-wide research and evidence support, delivering projects and activities that make sure we have the sound evidence bases we need that are vital to making the case to transform prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment and support in 10 years.

You will drive the use of data so that the organisation can map the current state of prostate cancer care, and you will make sure we are equipped to make critical decisions about where and how we should target resources to end variation.

You will be a vital source of support that ensures the effective and accurate use of evidence and knowledge by the organisation, participating in cross-organisational projects to ensure they are evidence-based. Your experience in the research or health sector is key, and you will have the ability to understand issues from clinician’s perspectives and from the viewpoint of patients.

Why work for us?

We have a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer.

Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support, we can make prostate cancer a disease the next generation of men need not fear. Be part of a team that will put an end to prostate cancer being a killer.

The support we’ll provide

Join our team and you’ll be working at an award-winning charity that will help you learn, develop your skills and expertise, and achieve your highest aspirations. We provide everything you’d expect from a professional organisation – competitive benefits package, contributory pension scheme, life insurance, child care vouchers, and season ticket loan – but much more besides. Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we fight for a better future for men.
