Service Support Worker - Digi-Connect
Location: Stockton, requires travel within Teesside area.
Contract type: Fixed Term, 1 year
14 hours per week
Salary: Circa £15,500 pro rata per annum



About the role
British Red Cross has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our Independent Living Support Team as a Service Support Worker to work for our new Digi-Connect project. This is a 1 year project in the Teesside area where tablets will be on loan to selected, mainly elderly, Service Users to provide opportunities to explore the web both for general interest and, in particular, to improve their health and wellbeing.


About the team
The Project will work alongside the Coop Connector in Middlesbrough, supporting individuals who are lonely and/or isolated, as well as other Independent Living services in the Teesside area. Our services help to prevent people from reaching crisis point; reducing admissions to hospitals and the need for residential and nursing care.

We are committed to delivering a person-centred service and enabling service users to achieve their personal outcomes. These may include enhanced quality of life, increased confidence and independence, and an improved sense of choice and control.

We also focus on improving personal dignity, feelings of safety and improved recovery after trauma or illness through services such as Support at Home.

About the person
As well as being IT literate you will be knowledgeable about the needs of individuals who may be disabled, elderly, lonely or isolated. You will need to be able to work by yourself visiting service users in their own homes and be able to provide training and general support in the use of a tablet. In addition you will need to be able to travel on a regular basis across the Teesside area.
