Are you passionate about helping to protect lives and rebuild shattered communities?

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is a dynamic fundraising charity that brings 13 leading UK aid organisations together in times of crisis.  When a major humanitarian emergency strikes, we mobilise unique corporate partnerships through our Rapid Response Network, together with the combined expertise of our member charities, resulting in wide-reaching national appeals across high profile TV, radio and an increasing number of digital channels.  By working together we can raise more money, more cost effectively to protect lives and rebuild shattered communities.

We are currently looking to appoint an outstanding Director of Finance and Resources to join us on this exciting journey and to lead the management of our financial, services and resources leadership. Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a core member of a highly collaborative Executive Team, you will play an integral, coordinating role in the development and delivery of the DEC’s strategic aims and ambitious strategy. You will provide full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and uphold best practice for a leading and trusted charity and support effective governance and decision-making by the Board of Trustees and its sub-committees through strong financial and risk management; robust internal controls; and appropriate policies and systems that enable the efficient and effective operations of the Secretariat.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and dynamic organisation with the chance to deliver systemic change. You will be a qualified accountant and bring clear vision and a substantial track record of developing strategy and delivering operational plans at a senior level across a breadth of functions including finance, human resources, facilities and IT. You will have the ability to build strong relationships and to influence across the DEC, as well as the personal qualities to effectively inspire and mobilise the team to deliver against organisational strategies. Most importantly, the Director of Finance and Resources will have a passion for the work of the DEC and the humanitarian/voluntary sector.

To view further information on the required qualifications, skills and experience for the role - and how to apply - please visit the DEC website via the button below.

The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 25th September 2017.  Interviews will take place on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th October.

The DEC is committed to equal opportunities and encourages applications from anyone who can meet the criteria, regardless of gender, race, age, disability, sexuality or religion.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
