Our client provides a range of housing and day support services in a manner that promotes self-esteem, respect and independence to people disadvantaged by housing circumstances or social need.

They are currently seeking three Evening / Night Wardens to join their Rough Sleeper project based in Skipton. The main purpose of this role is to provide a safe and secure environment outside normal working hours and providing security and domestic duties within a hostel setting. Within this role your main responsibilities will include responding to emergencies, receiving and reading reports prepared by other staff and writing reports in preparation for handovers at the end of the shift and having an awareness of each resident’s needs and circumstances, being sensitive to these in an appropriate manner. You will also be expected to engage with all residents and ensure that a positive and homely atmosphere is maintained in the hostel whilst adhering to professional boundaries, patrol the premises and maintain a visible presence on a regular basis and report any breaches of security and damage to the building and properties.

The successful candidates will ideally have experience of working in an environment that supports vulnerable / demanding needs including people with multiple needs (drug / alcohol issues and / or mental ill health) along with experience of carrying out security checks, monitoring CCTV and identifying and addressing any areas of concern. You will be flexible in your approach, enabling you to work an agreed rota (weekends, bank holidays, festivals eg Christmas etc) and you will be approachable, friendly, non-judgmental, patient and sensitive. It would be advantageous for you to have had relevant training such as health and safety, dealing with conflict, negotiating skills, professional boundaries, mental health, domestic violence etc.
