Family Worker

We are a UK leading provider of drug and alcohol treatment services, including 12-Step programmes. We deliver treatment and aftercare programmes – in prisons and in the community – which help people move away from addiction and crime. These services provide a variety of support, including advice, counselling, group work and intensive treatment.

We believe that all people who are addicted to or misusing substances should have access to support which is effective in breaking their addiction or misuse. People should be given help and support to address all their needs, so they can transform their lives permanently, including turning away from crime.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Family Worker to join our team at HMP Wandsworth as Family Worker.

Role Overview

Working within HMP Wandsworth, you will be responsible for coordinating and developing family/carer work with an emphasis on both supporting families/carers to identify and provide for their own needs as well as those of the service user.

This is a unique role as you will be offering Family Worker interventions and coordinate Peer Support. Working closely with the prison, local agencies, self-help groups and peer mentoring services, you will be responsible in providing pathways for clients and families to increase their engagement in family life, improve their health and well-being and reduce re-offending.

To take up this exciting opportunity you will be in possession of, or be working towards a recognised qualification in a related field (counselling, health & social care, nursing etc.) as well as experience or good knowledge of the criminal justice system and/or working with families.

You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, experience of liaising with multiple stakeholders, and the ability to set and stick to professional boundaries.
