Position: Dementia Support Worker 
Location: Bedford (role covers central Bedfordshire) 
Contract type: Permanent (subject to commissioning funding) 
Hours: 18.5 per week 
Salary: £10,563.50 per annum (actual)

About the role: 

As the Dementia Support Worker you will maintain and manage a caseload of clients with dementia as well as the delivery of some local groups; providing support by helping them to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. We want you to help raise public awareness about dementia and the way it affects families and individuals. Also identify areas of need and service development for people affected by dementia, working with other organisations to maximise the availability of local resources 

About you: 

The successful applicant will possess good IT skills, excellent communication skills, an understanding of delivering a service using the person centred approach and be able to travel independently across the Central Bedfordshire area. 

You will have experience of face-to-face service delivery, a broad understanding of statutory and voluntary services, ensuring independence, choice and control for all those who access our service. You will be committed to supporting people affected by dementia to live better lives. 

You will possess NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) or have demonstrable experience and an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS.
