About the role
We are looking for an engaging and enthusiastic L&D Advisor who has a real passion for learning and development to join our small but busy L&D team. You’ll be managing the roll out of a variety of learning programmes and play a key role in developing the organisation’s skills, knowledge and behaviours to help reach our strategic goals. 

You’ll use your experience and expert knowledge of L&D best practice to coach and persuade others to think differently about their learning and development needs. With your excellent communications skills, you’ll be able to establish effective relationships across the charity and be able to create exciting communications to engage all staff members with the wide range of learning and development opportunities.

Main Purpose of the Job
This is an exciting L&D role within a small but ambitious department, which plays a big role in developing the organisation's skills, knowledge and behaviours to help reach our strategic goals. Reporting to the L&D Manager you will understand business needs and use your innovative approach to manage the roll out of a wide variety learning programmes ensuring that staff experience a consistently engaging, valuable and memorable experience.

In addition you will offer support and advice to staff to help understand their training needs and provide guidance on learning plans to enable them to achieve their goals and objectives. Your organisational skills will mean you plan programmes, coordinate L&D, manage the L&D evaluation framework and effectively demonstrate the impact of L&D on the charity and recommend improvements.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Development and Delivery of Training
Contribute towards the development of an imaginative, creative and forward looking learning and development offer for the charity
Manage the roll out of learning programmes such as management development programmes throughout the whole learning cycle from internal communications to evaluation
Produce a range of bespoke ‘action based’ dynamic, blended and innovative training initiatives across the 70:20:10 spectrum
Utilise e-learning and digital learning platforms

Support and Advice
Support staff members to understand their learning and development needs using coaching style techniques.
Use your expert knowledge to recommend a blend of learning that will support them to achieve their goals.

Communication and Engagement 
Create and maintain good working relationships with teams across the charity enhancing the credibility of the department.
Engage with a variety of staff in a persuasive manor that helps them think differently about their learning and recommend learning options to teams and individuals.
Create persuasive and engaging communication(s) (web, emails, training handouts, design etc.) to ensure all staff know about learning opportunities and how to access them.
Negotiate with external training providers ensuring content, design and price of training is value for money and of the highest standard.
Provide constructive feedback to external facilitators and trainers to ensure the standards of training and support delivered are high.

Planning and Organising
Ownership for planning, organising and rolling out L&D programmes
Manage the centralised roll out of mandatory training, ensuring all staffs’ mandatory training is up to date
Responsible for arrangements/ logistics for learning and development activities including booking suppliers, venues, and catering
Manage course administration processes including the booking and confirmation of places on courses, and ensure joining instructions and programmes are sent to participants in good time
Manage the payment process for invoices
Lead the development of new or modified training processes including more efficient and effective booking systems, records, collation and analysis of evaluations
Responsible for the management of internal training data (i.e. PDP analysis, training records, evaluation analysis) in line with data protection rules and the creation and maintenance of internal training resources (i.e. guides, intranet content, processes etc.)

Metrics and Analysis
Analyse data such as PDPs to gain insight into the needs of the charity and make recommendations as needed to the L&D Manager.
Collect and analyse training feedback evaluating learning and recommending improvements to the L&D Manager.
Work with the HR Manager to utilise the HR system in order to capture training and produce reports and stats from it.

Other Duties
Undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post as requested by your manager
Carry out the duties of post in accordance with Teenage Cancer Trust policies and procedures
Supervise office L&D volunteers as required
Represent L&D in cross divisional work as required

Disclosure and Barring Checks
This role will have no direct contact with young people or access to any databases that hold information about those we support. It is therefore subject to a basic DBS check.

Key Relationships
Internal: All staff across all departments, working closely with HR
External: Training providers for planning, external facilitators, external designers, room bookings/ venue hires

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
5 A*-C GCSEs including Maths and English
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
Experience of working in a Learning and Development function
Experience of managing the roll out and delivery of a learning programme, for example the communication, logistical planning and evaluation of a programme
Experience of providing Learning and Development advice and support to staff
Experience of Learning and Development administration and planning
Evaluation of training programmes
Knowledge of L&D best practice, up to date trends in learning including designing learning interventions in line with the 70% 20% 10% model of learning and blended learning
Knowledge of training delivery - action-based learning
Knowledge of using technology to enhance learning and deliver training including e-learning
Analytical and evaluation skills
Report writing
Organisational skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Relationship building
Training and learning design (throughout 70%, 20%, 10%)
Ability to champion learning and be seen as a credible expert
