Head of Fundraising Development
Children’s Hospice South West does not need a lengthy introduction. It is one of the oldest and most preeminent children’s hospices in the UK and a forerunner in the development of modern approaches to palliative care and family support for children with life threatening or life limiting conditions.
The service comprises three hospices strategically located across the South West Peninsula, Little Bridge House near Barnstaple (opened 1995), Charlton Farm, North Somerset (opened 2007) and most recently Little Harbour near St. Austell, which opened in late 2011. This service has been built up over the last 25 years.
During this time the hospice has responded to the changes brought about by advances in medicine and the wishes of children and their families for how care is delivered.
Today the total operation requires around £10m annually. Of which 70% is derived from voluntary sources. The hospice currently employs around 300 people and enjoys the support of over 800 volunteers.
This is a new role that has been established to drive the growth of fundraising income at CHSW by developing and delivering an effective community, corporate and events fundraising strategy. The successful candidate will therefore have substantial and proven track record of achievement and innovation in all these key areas as well as leadership competencies which are compatible with the culture of the organisation.
You will deputise for the Director of Fundraising and provide a visible presence and clear leadership to the regional fundraising teams and work with the people on the ground to develop new ways of engaging supporters and in collaboration with colleagues in other departments.
The role will be based principally in Little Bridge House near Barnstaple, or work out of our offices at Chinon Court, Tiverton.
Application is by way of CV in the first instance.
