Our client is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated individual to fill the brand new position of Research Engagement Officer and Membership Support!  Based at their office in Northampton, this brand new post involves developing a panel of lay reviewers and managing the patient and public involvement in research.

Research Engagement Officer and Membership Support
Based: Northampton
Salary: £23,398 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

You will also provide a point of contact for this charity’s Medical and Research Committee and Grant Holders, and assist the Chief Executive by overseeing all aspects of the research activities of the charity and work alongside the communications department to promote and highlight the research supported and funded by the organisation, and assist the administration department in offering some helpline and membership support.

Principal Roles:

  • To develop, implement and manage a lay panel to review grant applications alongside the Medical and Research Committee.
  • Administer the grant awards process and be the point of contact for peer reviewers, the lay panel of reviewers and applicants.
  • Work alongside the Communications Department to promote the research funded by the charity.

Key Duties:

  • Work as part of a small team to further the important work of the organisation.
  • To provide support to the Chief Executive and Finance Officer on administering the ongoing monitoring of the charity's grants.
  • To provide support to the helpline and administration staff.
  • Compiling statistical analysis of the charity's activity.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have an understanding and commitment to lay involvement in research.
  • Have an understanding of sensitivity and respect for confidentiality.
  • Have experience of analysing data and producing quality reports based on findings.
  • Be able to assimilate and summarise complex information.
  • Be able to communicate effectively using creative and engaging methods, including written, verbal and electronic communication to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Have ability to work alone and as part of a small team.
  • Be willing to undertake training in order to adapt to changing situations.

The successful applicant will be expected to promote a positive image of the services the charity offers, and assist in the maintenance of good relationships with our client's members, supporters, fundraisers and all other outside organisations.  The successful applicant will be expected to have high professional standards, and engage in and undertake with enthusiasm all opportunities for his/her own training and professional development in order to achieve additional skills as this role develops.
