About Us

Presenting the best in musical theatre, ballet and opera, dance, drama, comedy and pantomime, we work successfully with some of the world’s biggest international producers.  With our resident partners Birmingham Royal Ballet and DanceXchange; with collaborators such as Welsh National Opera, The Lowry and Sadler’s Wells; and with names like Disney, Cameron Mackintosh, Qdos and Cape Town Opera dull moments don’t get a look in.

Average annual paid attendance of over half a million theatre-goers underlines our claim to be the UK’s busiest and most popular single theatre.  We are managed by a voluntary board of Trustees as an independent charity with no revenue subsidy from the public purse.  In our main auditorium or Patrick Centre studio, in our conference spaces or restaurant, and in schools and communities through Hippodrome CREATIVE, we make sure that everyone is welcome, we settle for nothing but the best and we bring flair to everything we do.

About The Role

You will develop your skills helping build and shape our communications strategy relating to non-show related activity. This will involve you in driving communications for departments such as Catering & Events and Creative Learning as well as general corporate and brand messaging.  You will forge links with internal stakeholders and oversee external suppliers to generate effective work that is on brief, on brand and on time. You will build your expertise creating, producing and distributing printed and digital content and collateral that articulate persuasive and compelling organisational messages. You will also enhance your learning through extending our networks of media contacts and influencers, growing our archive and creating project reports.

A graduate you will, ideally, have a PR or marketing qualification and track record in delivering effective media campaigns, digital communications and PR projects. Used to developing excellent printed and digital publications you must have strong copywriting and editing skills. You will demonstrate the ability to execute successful social media strategies and work across digital platforms too. You will also have an eye for a good story and a good understanding what interests a wide audience demographic. Effective at building relationships, you will be results orientated and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
